Build a Facebook Fundraiser

Thanks for being willing to create and share a Facebook fundraiser! We’ve compiled a step by step guide for setting one up from your computer. Please follow the instructions below.

Go to your Facebook homepage (see house icon):

  1. On the left side, under “Explore,” click “Fundraisers”
  2. Click the “Raise Money” button
  3. Click “Nonprofit”
  4. Under “Select Nonprofit” locate “search for a nonprofit to support” and type in “Salvation Farms Inc” and our listing will pop up.
  5. Select “Salvation Farms Inc.” and you will fill out the details about the fundraiser.
  6. Fill in how much money you would like to raise, and when should your fundraiser end, usually a week or two after it starts.
  7. Edit the following as needed:
    1. “What’s the title of your fundraiser?” (Your name)’s Fundraiser for Salvation Farms
    2. “Why are you raising money?” I’m helping to raise money for Salvation Farms because (type your answer). I hope you’ll join me in supporting their good work.
  8. Choose a cover photo, or use the auto-populated photo.
  9. Click on “Create.” Your fundraiser is now live.
  10. When you a page pops up that says “Congratulations, your fundraiser has been published…” scroll down and click the blue “get started” to advance to “Invite Friends.”
  11. “Invite Friends” auto populates to “All Friends,”; click the grey “Done” button at the bottom.
  12. Facebook will then prompt you to “Share on your timeline.” Write a short note about why you are supporting Salvation Farms and why you’re encouraging others to give.
  13. Click the blue “Share” button
  14. To edit: Once the fundraiser is created, you can go to the fundraiser homepage, click “…More” and click “Edit Fundraiser” if you need to change any of the following:
    1. Change the title
    2. Update the description
    3. Change the end date

We have found these fundraisers to be most successful when they are shared more than once to your timeline and when friends are personally invited.
