Salvation Farms Gleaning Network (SFGN)
Gleaning Groups’ Steering Committee Purpose


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Collaborative decision making to address:
- Long term direction and character of gleaning group
- Generating annual calendar of events
- Evaluate achieving the Mission & Goals of the SFGN

2. Broad inquiry questions:
- Responsible use of resources
-Effective local networking
- Adequate promotion and education

3. Brainstorming / Problem Solving
- Offering support and feedback for Field Coordinator (FC) and the Program Director of Agricultural Resources (PD/AR) at the Vermont Foodbank

Member & Committee Obligations:

1. Members term of service: 1-3 years
2. How many members: 5-9 including the FC
3. Selection process: PD/AG & FC will invite community members that have a genuine interest in starting a gleaning group. Once a group is established with a steering committee then it will be the committee’s responsibility to select new members.
4. Diversification requirements: It is suggested that you have committee members with diverse backgrounds and capabilities to fill the important roles associated with leading a gleaning group.
5. Meeting Schedule: Steering Committees are expected to meet as a whole at least quarterly per year.
