The Vermont Foodbank is pleased to announce that
the Agricultural Resources department is working diligently
to duplicate the successful Salvation Farms ~ Lamoille Valley
model in the Montpelier area.
Currently farms and volunteers are being recruited
to become valuable participants of this community gleaning group.
This first gleaning season will set the stage for years
to come. Developments will proceed with caution, making sure
that we can provide our farmers exceptional service, ensuring
that we are performing with consistent competence, leading volunteer
gleaners in an efficient and effective manor, while demanding
minimal support from the farm itself.
We will offer direct distribution of gleaned produce
to current Network Partners of the Vermont Foodbank in the greater
Montpelier area. Interest in receiving regular to semi-regular
delivers offering free salvaged produce will occur as gleans
begin and regularity as well as volumes of gleaned product is
determined.
