LAMOILLE
VALLEY |
Salvation Farms began as a non-profit project,
under the fiscal sponsorship of the Northeast Organic Farming
Association of Vermont, serving the Lamoille Valley . There
the project strengthened for three years following its inception.
This was a direct result of the hard work and dedication of
its’ Co-founders, Jen O’Donnell and Theresa Snow
.
In January of 2008, Salvation Farms became an official program
of the Vermont Foodbank. The Vermont Foodbank is proud to take
ownership of this grassroots project seeing that the heart of
the program is stabilized in the Lamoille Valley . Within the
Vermont Foodbank, the Salvation Farms program will develop into
a statewide network of community-based gleaning groups modeled
after the success of the Lamoille Valley group.

The Vermont Foodbank and the Salvation Farms
program is pleased to announce the hire of our new Lamoille
Valley Field Coordinator, Rebecca Beidler. Rebecca has a passion
for food; growing, cooking, and eating it. She has farming and
gardening experience gained while working at a number of small
scale perennial nurseries and vegetable farms in Vermont and
Oregon . Rebecca has also, with her husband Frey, had a small
vegetable and medicinal herb farm business on her brother’s
dairy farm in central Vermont . To farm commercially again is
still their dream.
Rebecca is happy to be working with Salvation Farms to connect
local farm resources, willing volunteers, and those in need
of food which fulfills her desire to feed the local community
and stay connected to Earth.
We all look forward
to the continued success of this community group.
Thanks for leading the way Lamoille Valley !
